Israel’s Military Says It Struck Hezbollah positions in Lebanon

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) has struck Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, the military said late on Thursday.

“The IAF conducted a precise strike in Lebanese territory on two military sites that contained Hezbollah weapons, which were in violation of the ceasefire agreement,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on social media.

“The IDF continues to operate to remove any threat to the State of Israel and will prevent any attempt by the Hezbollah terrorist organisation to rebuild its forces, in accordance with the ceasefire understanding.”

The information could not initially be independently verified.

The ceasefire between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia, which was agreed in November last year, was recently extended until Feb. 18, according to the White House.

The originally planned withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon within 60 days has been delayed.

Both sides accuse the other of violating the ceasefire.
