I WILL NEVER REPEAL ANTI OPEN GRAZING LAW IF ELECTED – UBA

Attah Ede, Makurdi

Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and gubernatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, Titus Uba has vowed to strengthened the anti open grazing law if elected as governor of the state come 2023.

He further said that he would rather die than to repeal the law that was enacted to protect farmers in the state against herders attacks.

He noted that the anti open grazing law has come to stay in Benue and had become an envy of other states in Nigeria.

Engr.Uba made the vow when the Benue State Forum of Supervisory Councillors paid him a solidarity visit at his residence in Makurdi.

He expressed his commitment to turn around the fortunes of the state through agriculture and industrialization if elected governor.

He stated that he would exploit the comparative advantage of the state in agriculture in line with his blueprint for agriculture, tagged “our soil is our oil” to fast tract development.

The governorship candidate advised Benue youths to engage in productive economic ventures to attract support from the Youth Development Commission billed to be established by his administration and commended the Forum for finding him worthy of their support.

He urged the general public to disregard the insinuation being peddled around by the opposition APC in the state about him not having certificate or forged documents, saying that he is well schooled and was opportuned to attend one of the best primary, secondary and tertiary schools across Nigeria.

“The APC supporters said l have no certificate, that I forged documents but I have contested elections several times and won. I schooled in Benue, Kogi and Bauchi states. The records are there and if they are not satisfied, they should go to court and challenge my academic status.

“As for me and my party, we have already gone to court to challenge the APC primaries and as we stand, APC has no governorship candidate in the state because their so called candidate is not a member of their party and we have established that claim and by the grace of God, I will be Governor in 2023”, Uba stated.

Also speaking, the deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chief Christopher Adaji, expressed confidence in the capacity of Engr. Uba to take Benue State to the next level of development and called on Benue people to rally support for him.

Earlier, the Leader of the Forum and outgoing supervisor for Agriculture and Natural resources in Katsina-ala Local Government Council, Jeff Atongo, said they visited the Governorship flag bearer to Congratulate him on his victory at the primaries and to assure him of their support and solidarity.

The group also lauded Governor Ortom for his leadership in enthroning internal democracy in the PDP, which he noted has ensured rancour free PDP primaries in the state.

In his remarks, former chairman of Makurdi Local Government Council, Hon. Gbashima Joseph, described Uba’s emergence as a demonstration of unity of purpose and called on Benue people to team up with the PDP to win the 2023 polls.
