News Investigators/ The Hisbah Board in Kano has warned citizens in the state against drug abuse and commercial sex activities.
Mujahedeen Aminudeen, Deputy Commander-General of the Board, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Friday.
He particularly cautioned youths involved in street commercial sex acts otherwise known as “good evening”, saying anyone found wanting would face the law.
The official said the board had intensified surveillance to curb illicit drug use, supply and other immoral activities through the recently introduced Operation Kano First.
He said the operation covered areas including State Road, Ibrahim Taiwo Road, Katsina Road and Kofar Mazugal, among others.
Aminudeen said the exercise was intended to demonstrate the board’s readiness to confront activities capable of undermining public morality and security in the state.
He commended the state government for provision of an operational vehicle and 50 motorcycles to enhance the board’s operation.
He noted that the additional vehicles would enable personnel to cover more areas and respond effectively to incidents requiring interventions.
