Fubara Says Rivers Haven For Energy Sector Investment

News Investigators/ Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has described the state as safe haven for investments in the oil and gas sector.

Mr Fubara who stated this at an oil and gas summit in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, said that the economic development of Rivers state was closely connected to the growth of the oil and gas industry.

Represented by Dr Benibo Anabraba, the Secretary to the state government, Fubara said that his administration had continued to collaborate with the Federal Government and host communities to protect natural assets in the sector.

The governor stated that Rivers was home to numerous national and multinational oil and gas companies, making it a destination for strategic investments.

“Our state is the centre of Nigeria’s hydrocarbon industry, its oil and gas resources generate over 40 per cent of the country’s revenue.

“‎Considering that the survival and economic development of the state are closely connected to the growth of the oil and gas industry.

“Our government has continued to focus on safeguarding the national oil and gas assets in collaboration with the Federal Government, security agencies, and communities,” he said.

Emeka Ugwu-Ozu, the Founder, Nigeria and Entrepreneurship Summit and Honours Foundation, said that the summit, provided an opportunity for stakeholders in the industry to brainstorm and suggest best practices for local players.

Mr Ugwu-Ozu further said that the roundtable aimed to achieve success that could comparable to globally accepted standards.
