FOMWAN Condemns Killing Of Islamiyya Teacher In Kaduna, Seeks Justice

News Investigators/ The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) in Kaduna has condemned the killing of Malama Ummulkair in Maraban Jos community of Igabi Local Government, and called for justice and support for her family.

The association described the mob incident as tragic and unacceptable, urging authorities to ensure those responsible are identified and prosecuted.

In a statement issued in Kaduna on Saturday by its Amirah, Nafisat Musa -Isah, FOMWAN expressed deep sorrow over the death of the teacher, who was reportedly killed on June 21.

According to the association, the late Ummulkair dedicated her life to teaching the Holy Qur’an and imparting moral values to children in her community.

FOMWAN said the incident represented not only a loss to her family and the Muslim community but also a setback to education and the protection of women and children.

The group called on the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to conduct a thorough, transparent and impartial investigation into the incident and ensure that justice was served.

It also appealed to relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), humanitarian organisations and individuals to provide welfare and educational support for the deceased’s children.

The association further urged community and religious leaders as well as residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and sustain efforts toward promoting peaceful coexistence and community safety.

FOMWAN extended condolences to the family of the deceased, her students, residents of Maraban Jos and the Muslim community, while praying for strength and comfort for those affected.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to promoting justice, protecting the rights and dignity of women and children, and advocating safer communities across Kaduna State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the killing of Malama Ummulkair sparked public concern and condemnation within Kaduna State.

Authorities had earlier confirmed that some suspects connected to the incident were arrested and arraigned before a Court in Kaduna in connection with the mob attack.

The case has continued to generate calls from religious and civil society groups for accountability and stronger measures to protect residents and prevent similar incidents.
