Police have fired canisters of tear gas at protesters at the Lekki tollgate during this year’s second anniversary of #EndSARS commemoration on Thursday in Lagos.
Today marks two years of the popular #EndSARS on 20-10, 20.
It was gathered that as the demonstrators gathered at the plaza to place coffins and wreaths in remembrance of those who lost their lives, police fired teargas canisters at the crowd leading to stampede at the venue.
Nigerian youths scampered for safety, causing stampede and gridlock.
It was gathered that the police and other security operatives had earlier mounted barricades at the tollgate to prevent them from organizing any rally.
The peaceful procession later turned into rowdy demonstration with the the police and other security operatives shooting canisters on them.
African Action Congress Presidential Candidate, Omoyele Sowore, and two of the organisers, Folarin Falana, known as ‘Falz’, and a comedian, Adebowale Adedayo, aka ‘Mr Macaroni’ were also at the venue.
