News Investigators/ A 38-year-old man, Ibrahim Opeyemi, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 300 bags of superfine wheat flour worth N21 million.
Mr Opeyemi, who worked with Fafem Haulage Nig. Ltd, situated at Abule Egba, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikayere, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences on Jan. 20, at Fafem Haulage Nig. Ltd at Abule Egba, Lagos.
Ikayere alleged that the defendant conspired with others and stole 300 bags of superfine Wheat flour valued at N21 million, belonging to Fafem Haulage Nig Ltd.
The prosecutor said that the case was reported at Area G command, Ogba.
She said that the offences contravened Sections 412 and 287(7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 287(7) stipulates seven years imprisonment for any one found guilty of stealing from his employer.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr L.A. Owolabi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
Owolabi said that the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned until Feb. 5 for hearing.
