For former Governor Willie Obiano, of Anambra State, it is from Government House to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s detention facility on the first day of relinquishing power.
Operatives of the EFCC arrested the former Governor on his way to Houston Texas at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
Obiano handed over to Governor Charles Soludo on Thursday dignifying his lost of immunity.
He was picked up at 8:30 pm by Operatives monitoring his movement as he made to board a flight to the US.
Obiano has been under EFCC watch list for some months now.
“EFCC today March 17, 2022 picked up ex governor Obiano of Anambra State.
“The former governor who has been on the Commission’s watchlist was arrested at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport Lagos at about 8.30pm as he prepared to board a flight to Houston, USA .” A source said
When contacted, the Head of Media of the EFCC, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed it to the Network.
The EFCC had written the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service in November 2021 to place the then Governor under watch.
The EFCC requested the NIS to release prompt information on him anytime he he attempts to travel out of the country.
A source said that the agency has been conducting discreet investigation into the activities of the former Governor for some time.
