Edo Speaker Lauds Smooth Conduct Of LG Election

News Investigators/ The Speaker of the Edo House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku has  commended the smooth conduct  of the   state’s Local Government Area election held on Saturday.

Mr Agbebaku  spoke shortly after voting in Owan West Local Government Area of  the state.

He told  journalists that the process is smooth and commended electoral officials for the orderly conduct of the exercise.
The speaker urged eligible voters to always participate in  elections, adding that it’s their civic  right and responsibility..

He stressed the importance of the local government election, describing the council as the closest tier of government to the people and one that directly impacted their daily lives.

“The process has been seamless. I encourage everyone to come out and exercise their franchise because the local government is the closest level of government to the people. Every vote counts in determining the future of our communities,” Agbebaku said.

The speaker recalled that he had returned to his ward on Friday to campaign for the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship and vice-chairmanship candidates in Owan West.

He said he presented the party’s chairmanship candidate, Mr Enahoro Aikpokpo, and the vice-chairmanship candidate, Ale Thomas, to residents, urging them to support candidates with the capacity to sustain development.

According to him, elections should be decided on competence, character, capacity and a commitment to purposeful leadership.

Mr Agbebaku said the response from residents during the ward campaign was encouraging, adding that many expressed confidence in the APC candidates and pledged their support.

He thanked the people of his ward for what he described as their trust, warm reception and continued support for the ruling party.

The speaker urged residents to remain peaceful throughout the election and conduct themselves in an orderly manner while exercising their civic responsibility.
