News Investigators/ The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has received many leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) recently.
This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Wednesday by the state APC Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris.
According to him, no fewer than 15 top leaders of the Zamfara chapter of the PDP who defected to the Zamfara APC were received by Matawalle.
“Receiving the defectors, the minister assured them of equal treatment and opportunities with all other party members.
“He described their decision to join the APC as bold and timely, considering the popularity and acceptance of the party in the state and the nation at large.
“Mr Matawalle also commended the state party leadership for its consultation and mobilisation within the state, which has made the party more acceptable and popular in all the nooks and crannies of the state,” Idris said.
The minister further said the the APC would continue to be more united and stronger with the current strategy mapped out and its welfare packages being delivered to the people of the state.
The State APC Chairman, Tukur Danfulani, said among the new entrants were State and Zonal Executives of the PDP.
Other defectors who joined the APC were PDP Youths Leader, Isiyaka Dabo; Zonal Treasurer of Zamfara West, Nasiru Mohammed-Anka; PDP Organising Secretary, Zamfara North, Junaidu Magaji-Kiyawa and Assistant Organising Secretary Zamfara West, Hon. Musa Faru.
Others included Alhaji Lawali Shinkafi, PDP Zonal Secretary, Zamfara North, Hajiya Rabi Bakura; Ex officio and Hajiya Amina Duniya, State ex-officio of the PDP, among others.
