COURT DISMISSES APC Governorship Primary Election IN AKWA IBOM

A Federal High Court in Uyo, on Monday dismissed the Awka Ibom chapter of the All Progressives Congress’ governorship primary conducted in May 26, 2022.

The presiding judge, Justice Agatha Okeke, while giving her verdict on the troubled primaries also disqualified the governorship candidate of the party, Akanimo Udofia, from participating in the primary, stresses that he was not a member of the APC in the state.

Justice Okeke, therefore, ruled for fresh governorship primary within 14 days from today.

Trouble started for the APC in the state when the former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Senator Ita Solomon Enang, approached the Court challenging

the unlawful nomination of Akan Udofia as the party’s governorship candidate.

Enang prayed the court that Udofia was a governorship aspirant on the ticket of the PDP two days to the APC governorship primary, adding that Udofia should not have been nominated to fly the party’s flag.

Meanwhile, the disqualified governorship candidate, Udofia, a businessman, had already picked Victor Antai as his running mate.

The judgment on Monday, means that Akanimo Udofia, will not be participating in the primary, saying that he was not a member of the APC in the state.
