Justice Simon Amobeda, of the Federal High Court, in Jalingo, Taraba State on Tuesday annulled the governorship primary election that produced Senator Emmanuel Bwacha as the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the 2023 election.
Justice Amobeda, in his ruling, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh governorship primary in the state within 14 days
One of the governorship aspirants, David Sabo Kente, had in the run off of the primary election filed the suit against the conduct of the election.
The judge also ordered Bwacha, the Senator representing Taraba South, to stop parading himself as the gubernatorial flagbearer of the APC and INEC to stop recognising Bwacha as a candidate.
According to Justice Amobeda, it is not possible for all the primary results to have the same handwriting while the Returning Officer declared that no primary was held in the state at the police headquarters due to security threats.
The APC and the sacked candidate, Bwacha, in their reactions to the ruling, said they would study the judgment before announcing their next line of action.
