News Investigators/ The Chief of Army Staff(COAS) Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu on Thursday celebrated Christmas with the troops of Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma(OPF), and charged them to remained focused on mission.
Shaibu gave the charge at a luncheon organised as part of the activities for the Christmas celebration.,
He also charged troops of the sector to be professional in the discharge of their operational duties.
Represented by the Chief of Administration Army Maj.- Gen Isa Abdullahi, the COAS emphasised the need for vigilance, especially during this yuletide period.
The COAS said , “I extend warm Christmas wishes to all officers, soldiers, civilian staff, and families of the Nigerian Army.
“This season invites reflection and thanksgiving as we commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, emphasizing love, sacrifice, compassion, and unity—values that resonate deeply within our Army.
“I salute those serving in various theaters during this festive season, whose sacrifices ensure our nation’s safety.
” Your commitment is profoundly appreciated. Under my leadership, I pledge to prioritize professionalism and personnel welfare.
“Our philosophy remains a focused transformation into a resilient force ready to fulfill our constitutional duties.
“To our soldiers’ families, your love and patience empower our troops your sacrifices do not go unnoticed, “he said
Shaibu also extended gratitude to sister services, security agencies, and the wider communities for their support in maintaining peace and security.
He said, ” As we celebrate Christmas, let us embody the season’s essence through love and unity.
“Embrace 2026 with optimism and dedication as we tackle emerging challenges and uphold our service’s honor. Remember to celebrate responsibly, maintain security awareness, and honor our fallen heroes.”
Shaibu added that as they welcome the New Year, l unity should be strengthenef, while they should remain focused on their mission.
The Army chief appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support, which had bolstered our operational readiness.
Earlier, the host General Officer Commanding 1 Division/Commander Sector 1( OPFY), Maj.-Gen .Abubakar Wase, reminded the troops on the need for Force Protection.
The News Agency of NIgeria (NAN) reports that the representative of the COAS visited t Forward Operating Bases at Birnin Gwari,Tegina, Rijana, where he interacted with the troops.
