The Chief Justice of the Federation (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, on Thursday warned judges of election petition tribunals against judicial recklessness in the handing of cases in 2023.
The CJN spoke while swearing in members of the Election Petition Tribunal for the 2023 general elections on Monday at the National Judicial Institute, Abuja.
Justice Ariwoola who administered the oath of office on the tribunal members urged them to handle their sensitive assignments with the deserved seriousness.
The tribunal members numbering over 300 were constituted ahead of the 2023 general elections to adjudicate over petitions that may emanate from the election.
The swearing in ceremony kickstarted a four-day capacity building workshop designed to come to and on Thursday.
The Court of Appeal had also compiled a case management system to serve as a guide in areas of conflicting rulings by the tribunals.
The President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem who attended the event, urged the newly sworn-in members to be firm in the discharge of their duties and to resist expected temptations.
