China Advances Toward Economic Partnership Agreement, Zero-Tariff Deals

News Investigators/ China has expressed its readiness to work closely with Nigeria to sign the Agreement on Economic Partnership for Shared Development and fully implement a zero-tariff policy on Nigerian products.

Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, disclosed this during a meeting with Nigeria’s Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, John Enoh, in Abuja.

Mr Yu said the initiative is part of efforts to implement the strategic consensus reached by the Presidents of China and Nigeria, and to deepen the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

“China highly values the development of its partnership with Nigeria.

“We are ready to take concrete actions, including fully rolling out zero-tariff treatment for all Nigerian products.

“This will not only support Nigeria’s industrialisation and economic diversification but also enable both countries to share in the dividends of development,” he said.

He also emphasised that the move signals China’s continued commitment to enhancing practical cooperation with Nigeria across sectors and creating win-win outcomes for both countries.

In his remarks, Enoh commended China’s forward-looking initiatives, describing the proposed economic partnership agreement and zero-tariff policy as timely and impactful.

“The zero-tariff measures have the potential to significantly expand Nigerian exports to China,”

“They will also contribute to our efforts to attract more manufacturing investments and facilitate the transfer of relevant technologies,” Enoh noted.

He assured China of Nigeria’s commitment to the partnership and pledged the full support of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment in the implementation of the agreement.
