…Insecurity, Economy Dominates Discussion
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday presided over the Council of State meeting at the Presidential Villa Abuja.
The Network gathered that the economy and issue of insecurity are top on the agenda of the meeting.
In attendance at the meeting which started at 10am, were former Heads of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar and former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the Secretary to the government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, and Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari are also in attendance.
The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Atiku Bagudu(Kebbi), Bello Matawalle (Zamfara), Nasir El Rufai (Kaduna) among others are also in attendance,
Several others are hooked to the meeting virtually from their various locations.
The meeting recalled the death of the former Head of the Interim National Government, Chief Earnest Shonekan, who died on January 11, 2022 and observed a minute of silence in his honour:
President Buhari is presiding over the meeting for the fourth time, since taking over power in 2015.
The first time he presided over the meeting was October 21, 2015 and then September 7, 2016 for the second time and the third time in August 2020.
The Council of State, an organ of the Federal Government, performs the responsibility of advising the executive on policy matters.
