BUHARI ABORTS UK MEDICAL TRIP, RETURNS TO NIGERIA 

President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Nigeria after the United Nations Environmental Programme at 50 Special Session in Nairobi, Kenya.
The President was scheduled to move to the UK for a two-week medical check up but he made a sudden change of plan. 
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina had said on Monday that  “From Kenya, President Buhari will proceed to London for routine medical checks that will last for a maximum of two weeks.”
The President whose main tasks was to “deliver the National Statement of the country and participate in High Level Dialogue Sessions on the Environment at the event returned on Friday.

The President in his address in Kenya called for concerted action on climate change, biodiversity, rising levels of pollution and waste which are the  three identified major threats to the planet.
“As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of UNEP’s existence, we laud the efforts of UNEP and encourage broader action to overcome climate change, biodiversity, rising levels of pollution and waste being three major crises threatening our planet.” He said

Buhari also met with Executive Secretary of UN Convention to Combat Desertification, Mr Ibrahim Thiaw, in Nairobi.
The President directed collaboration between the Ministries of Environment, Water Resources, Agriculture and Rural Development and Power to combat the threat of desertification.
