BREAKING: Suspected Herders Kill DPO in Benue

Attah Ede Makurdi

The Benue State Police Command, on Tuesday, confirmed the killing of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Naka, the headquarters of  Gwer West Local Government Area of the state, Superintendent of Police Mahmood Abubakar.

The state command Public Relations Officer SP Sewuese Anene who confirmed this ugly development, said that the DPO was killed in an ambush by suspected herdsmen operating in the area.

She explained that Abubakar and his team were responding to a distress call from road users along the Naka-Makurdi Road when they were ambushed and killed by suspected herdsmen.

The Naka-Makurdi Road has become impassable for road users due to herdsmen attacks on the one hand, and the deplorable state of the Ankpa-Adoka-Naka to Makurdi federal road, which was under construction but was abandoned by the contractor last year.

 Details later….
