BREAKING: 8 Persons Feared Dead In Anambra Auto Crash

By Kamsi Anayo

No fewer than eight persons were Saturday feared dead at Umunya, Odumodu Junction on the Onitsha-Enugu Expressway of Anambra state

The accident involved two trailer trucks, a Jetta Sienna bus, a black Toyota car, all of which were badly damaged.

The cause of the accident is attributed to over-speeding.

It would be recalled that at least 20 people died in 2018 at the same scene of the current accident when  a commercial vehicle collided head on with another vehicle.

An eyewitness who gave his name as Mr Kenechukwu, said one of the trucks involved, lost its break, while traveling from Onitsha to Enugu.

Kenechukwu, a commercial motorcycle rider said: “I was waiting for passenger when I suddenly saw a trailer coming from Onitsha with full speed. The driver couldn’t bring the truck to a halt, thereby ramming into an oncoming trailer and a bus loaded with passengers.”

One of the survivors was quoted as saying that their vehicle was on its way to Enugu when suddenly she heard a big bang and all she she could remember was blood, with passengers and their traveling bags littered everywhere.

An emergency response team was already at the scene of the accident, trying to evacuate the dead bodies.

Some of the injured passengers were said to have been moved to the hospital, while the corpses of the dead  were also deposited in an undisclosed hospital.
