News Investigators/ The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) will unveil the National Guidelines for Public Procurement of Food and Related Services on July 13 in Abuja as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen procurement reforms.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Adebowale Adedokun, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Mr Adedokun said the initiative was being implemented in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the Federal Ministry of Education and other key stakeholders.
He described the guidelines as a landmark framework designed to establish transparent, healthy and sustainable standards for the procurement of food and related services across public institutions nationwide.
According to him, the initiative will strengthen public procurement practices, support economic growth and promote a culture of national wellness through an efficient and sustainable food value chain.
Mr Adedokun said the guidelines would apply to school feeding programmes, hospitals, government agencies, correctional facilities and the hospitality sector, ensuring uniform standards for food procurement and related service delivery.
He added that the framework would stimulate the growth of Nigeria’s agricultural sector by prioritising locally produced food and supporting farmers through an inclusive, community-based procurement value chain.
According to the BPP director-general, the official unveiling is scheduled for Monday, July 13, 2026, at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
He said highlights of the event would include a keynote address and the presentation of the guidelines, featuring an overview of the new procurement standards and compliance metrics.
Mr Adedokun added that attendance at the unveiling ceremony would be strictly by invitation.
