The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, says President Bola Tinubu has earned Nigerians’ confidence through his leadership and commitment to national development.
Prof. Yilwatda, in statement by his media adviser, Abimbola Tooki, spoke at the APC’s national presidential campaign rally launch on Saturday in Kaduna.
He said Tinubu’s leadership, economic reforms and promise of greater prosperity had strengthened public confidence in his administration.
Prof. Yilwatda welcomed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima to the North-West, describing the rally as pivotal to the party’s 2027 re-election bid.
He said the campaign’s enthusiasm reflected growing public confidence in the administration’s vision for a stronger and more economically resilient Nigeria.
“The people have spoken, and their voice is loud and clear. Nigerians are happy. Our women are happy, our youths are happy, and the people are encouraged by Tinubu’s leadership,” he said.
Prof. Yilwatda said the APC was proud to present what he described as the most competent and credible presidential candidate.
He added that the party remained united, prepared and confident ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He cited political realignments involving the Accord, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as evidence of growing national debate surrounding Tinubu’s leadership.
“The governors have spoken, and the political realignments involving the Accord, PDP and APGA, are further indications of the growing national conversation around the president’s leadership and the direction of our country,” he said.
The APC chairman said the campaign would focus on the administration’s record, ongoing reforms and plans for Nigeria’s future.
He urged Nigerians to assess the government’s performance alongside existing challenges and the decisions required to address longstanding structural problems.
According to him, the administration had demonstrated the political will to confront economic challenges, strengthen infrastructure and reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth.
He expressed confidence that the benefits of the reforms would become increasingly evident as implementation continued.
Prof. Yilwatda said Tinubu’s first term had laid the foundation for a second administration to pursue greater prosperity, security and inclusion.
“The task before us is to consolidate the gains, deepen the reforms and ensure that the promise of Renewed Hope translates into greater opportunities, improved livelihoods and shared prosperity for our people.
“We believe that President Tinubu deserves the opportunity to complete this work and take Nigeria to the next level,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria NAN reports that the national chairman presented APC flags to seven North-West governors seeking re-election in 2027.
The presentation reaffirmed the party’s confidence in its state leadership and determination to consolidate its regional political strength.
The governors are Uba Sani of Kaduna, Abba Yusuf of Kano, Dikko Radda of Katsina, Umar Namadi of Jigawa and Nasir Idris of Kebbi.
The others are Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara.
Prof. Yilwatda urged the governors to sustain public engagement, strengthen party unity and mobilise support for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
He described the North-West as strategically important to the party’s electoral prospects, stressing the need for sustained grassroots mobilisation.
He said electoral success would also require effective communication of government policies and achievements, alongside unity among party leaders.
Prof. Yilwatda urged party members, elected officials, stakeholders and supporters across the seven states to work collectively towards a successful campaign.
He said unity, discipline and a shared sense of purpose would be crucial to the party’s electoral efforts.
The chairman commended the Kaduna State Government, party leaders, campaign organisers and supporters for contributing to the campaign’s launch.
He described Kaduna as a strategic location for opening the campaign, citing the North-West’s importance to national mobilisation efforts.
He urged party members to campaign through issue-based engagement, respect for democratic principles and clear communication of government policies.
Prof. Yilwatda said the APC would approach the 2027 election with confidence, organisational strength and a commitment to presenting its record and vision.
“The journey to 2027 has begun, and the APC is ready. We have a president with the courage to lead, a party with the capacity to mobilise and a vision centred on the prosperity of our people.
“Together, we will build on our achievements, confront our challenges and work toward a stronger Nigeria,” he said.
