The Airlines Operators of Nigeria on Friday raised the alarm over acute scarcity of aviation fuel otherwise known as Jet-A1.
The body stated that due to the scarcity, there would be major disruptions in the scheduled flight operations including cancellation and unnecessary delays across all airports in the country.
Spokesman of the AON, Professor Obiora Okonkwo in a statement to newsmen Friday said “This is a foreseen but unintended consequences of the aviation fuel scarcity in the country.”
“We, therefore, plead for the understanding of the travelling public to bear with our members as efforts are currently being made to address the development and to restore normal flight operations,” Okonkwo said.
He added that AON is committed rendering seamless and uninterrupted air transport services across the country.
