News Investigators/ The Modibbo Adama University, Yola, has matriculated 8,591 undergraduate and postgraduate students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Vice-Chancellor, Ibrahim Umar, disclosed this during the institution’s matriculation ceremony held on Thursday in Yola.
Prof. Umar congratulated the newly admitted students and urged them to remain committed to academic excellence, discipline and integrity throughout their stay in the university.
“As you begin this journey, you are embracing responsibility and committing yourselves to the pursuit of knowledge and excellence,” Umar said.
The vice-chancellor warned that the university maintained zero tolerance for examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse and other social vices, stressing that offenders would face strict disciplinary actions.
He disclosed that 132 international students were admitted into various postgraduate programmes, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to high academic standards.
Umar said the university had expanded academically with the establishment of new faculties, including Communication and Mass Media Studies, Computing and Arts.
He also highlighted improvements in infrastructure, noting that the institution now enjoyed 24-hour solar-powered electricity to enhance teaching, learning and research activities.
According to him, additional hostel projects are ongoing to address accommodation challenges faced by students.
Umar assured that the university management remained committed to improving student welfare and encouraged the new students to strive for excellence and make meaningful contributions to society.
