The Arewa Consultative Forum on Sunday reacted to the reported attack on Alhaji Salihu Abdulkadir, the SERKI Fulani allegedly by Sunday Adeyemo alias Igboho at Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government Area òf Oyo State.

Igboho, a popular activist agitating for Oodua Republic had issued a seven-day quit notice to the Fulani and herders over the reported killings and kidnappings of Oyo citizens in the area.

The National Publicity Secretary of the ACF, Mr Emmanuel Yawe, said that Igboho who issued a seven day ultimatum to the Fulani to leave the area was the instigator of the attack.

He said that it was rathe disturbing that the attack took place in the presence of security agents who were earlier warned about it.

Yawe said that those who carried out the attack should be arrested and made to face prosecution.

He said that if the culprits are not arrested, there might be counter attacks in the North and the country would blow up in flames.

“This morning we’ve received reports of an attack by Yoruba Youths on Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir, the Serki Fulani in Oyo State.

“In the reports, he was attacked and driven out of his house, eleven cars and his house burnt with his family members now living in the bush.

There are allegations that one Sunday Igboho an agitator for Oodua Republic and who issued an ultimatum giving Fulani people seven days to leave Yorubaland is the instigator of the attack.

The most disturbing aspect of the attack is the allegation that the security agents who were earlier warned about its imminence stood by helplessly as the attack was carried out.

Those who carried out these attacks must be apprehended and the due process of the law allowed to take its course.

“If this is not done there may be counter attacks in the north and the country will be up in flames. The authorities must act. The ACF is very worried and calls on them to act fast.”

But the Aribiyan II of Igangan, Oba Abdulazeez Adeoye, said that the community decided to rise against heinous crimes committed by killer herdsmen after years of killings, maimings and kidnappings by the herdsmen.

“The people of Igangan rose against the incursion of killer herdsmen in our community considering our experiences over the years. It has been incidents of killing, maiming, kidnapping for money and raping. It has got to an unbearable level so we asked that they should excuse us.

“As we speak, the three Kara cattle markets in my domain have been shut down. Majority of them engage in illicit acts. Strangers infiltrated our midst to kidnap our people for money. They raped our women and also destroyed our farmlands with cattle. We have asked the herdsmen to leave our midst because they don’t have an iota of respect for human lives. They killed our people, they stole and drove our farmers from the farm.” He said
