80-year-old Kwali Chief Urges Incoming Council Leaders To Prioritise Security, Welfare

News Investigators/ Abubakar Ladan, an 80-year-old Chief in Angwan-Hausawa community in Kwali Area Council of the FCT, has urged the incoming council leadership to prioritise the security and welfare of the people when sworn-in.

Mr Ladan made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after casting his vote at the 2026 FCT Council Elections at Pulling Unit 002 at the Pilot Science Nursery School in Kwali Central Ward.

“What we want from the government that will emerge after today’s election is for them to ensure people have what to eat and be comfortable in the community,” he said.

Mr Ladan, who was given the privilege to be the first to cast his vote on the grounds of his age, said the process was seamless and stress-free.

NAN observed that at the Pilot Science Nursery School which hosted 12 pulling units, accreditation and voting began at exactly 8:30 a.m.

NAN also observed that INEC officials and security agents led by the Nigerian Police Force, were on ground well ahead of the commencement of accreditations for the elections.

Voters were orderly as they queued up to exercise their franchise while some food vendors hawked food items and snacks.
