2027: Coalition Backs Atiku, Plans 5,000-Man ADC Solidarity Walk

News Investigators/ The Coalition for Democratic Transparency has endorsed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the 2027 presidential election and announced plans for a 5,000-person solidarity march in support of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

National Coordinator Shehu-Abdullahi Biye announced the endorsement at a press conference in Zaria on Thursday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was titled: “Unity, Transparency, and the Path to a New Nigeria in 2027.”

Mr Biye said the coalition was formed to promote democratic transparency, accountable leadership, and national unity.

“It comprises leaders, youths, women’s groups, and civil society organisations from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

“The group resolved to back Atiku Abubakar, in view of his ‘experience, national reach, and vision for economic revitalisation and national unity’.

“Today, we declare full support for His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, as our preferred presidential candidate for 2027.

“We believe he can rebuild institutions, restore investor confidence, and ensure power truly belongs to the people,” Biye said.

The coalition also pledged support for the ADC, describing it as a viable platform for coalition politics and democratic reform.

“The group is mobilising for a peaceful 5,000-person march to show solidarity with the ADC and its vision for a transparent and credible 2027 election.

“The march is scheduled for June 27 in the Federal Capital Territory and will be conducted lawfully and peacefully, he assured.

According to Biye, the march aims to demonstrate Nigerians’ growing demand for good governance and electoral transparency.

“This march will signal that citizens across all the six geopolitical zones are alert, organised, and ready to defend democracy,” he said.

The coalition urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure a level playing field in 2027.

It also called on Nigerians to register, collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and ensure that they participate actively in the 2027 electoral process.

Mr Biye emphasised that the movement had gone beyond individual interests, it focused on national unity, fairness, and improved welfare for Nigerians.
