The Chinese Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, on Monday, disassociated itself and the Government of the Federal Republic of China, from the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi’s 2023 Presidential ambition.
The Embassy in Abuja, said the Government described the reports that they are behind Amaechi’s presidential ambition as fake news.
On weekend, many social media reports trended with the news of the Chinese Government purports backing of Amaechi’s ambition for 2023.
But in a statement from the Chinese Embassy denied the reports and urged Nigerians to discard such fabricated reports.
The statement from the Embassy reads in parts:
“The attention of the Embassy of China has been drawn to a misleading report on an online news portal, alleging that Rotimi Amaechi, Hon. Minister of Transport of Nigeria and one of the aspirants to the 2023 Presidential Election, “has secured the backing of the Chinese Government”, and “…several meetings were held between Amaechi’s allies and the Chinese Government”, even claiming that ‘China needs to … install its dominance in Africa.’
“The general public is kindly reminded to ignore it and keep vigilant on this kind of fake news, which is fabricated with ulterior motives.”
According to the Embassy, China’s diplomacy is built on mutual respect for other countries adding that China respects Nigeria’s democratic political system.
“With respect to Nigeria’s democratic political system, we are confident of the capacity of the Nigerian Government and people of organizing and conducting a successful general election,” it said.
The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi had declared his interest to run for the Presidency in 2023.
Amaechi has been consulting with important leaders of thought and relevant stakeholders across the country, marketing his bid for the 2023 race.
China and Nigeria have been in partnership with the Chinese firms especially in the area of railway construction.

The body of a Kano-based business man, Yahaya Hassan Musa, has been found in a Kogi State forest immediately after the family paid N6million ransom.
Hassan Musa, 39-year-old, was abducted by gunmen on his way back home from Cotonou, Benin Republic, after a business trip.
He was allegedly kidnapped on Thursday, in a forest around Mopa area of Kogi State, with the kidnappers demanding N10m and later slashing it to N6m
According to his brother, Abubakar Hassan Musa, who took the N6m to the kidnappers, his brother used to fly whenever he travelled, but that on that fateful trip he decided to return by road.
The incident started on Thursday, when the victim, who is married with two kids, was coming back from Cotonou, Benin Republic, after a business trip and was kidnapped in a forest around Mopa area of Kogi State, with the kidnappers demanding N10m and later slashing it to N6m.
“The following day I continued searching until a woman who was kidnapped alongside my brother called me and said they killed him before even collecting the ransom, but that she didn’t know where they dumped his body.
“I went back to the nearby town and hired hunters to get back into the forest and search for the corpse. After treking many kilometers, we found his decomposing corpse.” He said.
According to his brother, after they consulted the family in Kano, they buried him inside the forest because of his decomposing body.
He added because he couldn’t find a bus to carry him to Kano, they buried him according to Islamic rites
