Attah Ede, Makurdi
Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, and his allies have arrived Makurdi, the Benue State capital for People’s Democratic Party PDP campaign flagoff, Sunday.
Wike’s plane touched down at the Military Airport Makurdi on Sunday evening at about 5pm and was received by Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue;
Wike was later joined by Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu before they moved to Government House Makurdi.
Wike and his associates have been demanding the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after Atiku Abubakar won the party’s presidential ticket.
The call for Ayu’s resignation is on the grounds that the national chairman and the presidential candidate of the party cannot be from the same region.
Recalled that Wike and his loyalists shunned the flag-off ceremony of the party’s presidential campaign for the 2023 elections.
The four governors were in the state ahead of the flag-off of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaigns and commissioning of some projects executed by Ortom slated for Monday, 7th November,2022.
