2023: ANGRY ANAMBRA COMMUNITY MOVES TO STOP POLITICAL ACTIVITIES OVER 24 MONTHS BLACKOUT

Stakeholders and people of Adabebe community in Amawbia town near Awka the Anambra’ state capital have warned all the political parties and their candidates for the National and State Houses of Assembly ahead of the 2023  elections in the state not to come for campaigns in the area as a result Ofuruma two years of darkness in the area.

Adabebe community and residents have been relocating to other villages as a result of power failure due to the collapse of an old power transformer that had been in use for the past 30 years.

The failed transformer has not been replaced by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC).

This community is still shopping for the sum of N4.5 million for the installation of a newly procured transformer to serve the area.

Spokesman for the community, Nze Uchenna Chukwuka said political activities would not be allowed in Adabebe communty until power supply is restored to the area.

According to him, “We have resolved to drive away any National and State Assembly campaigns by political parties and their candidates.”

“This has become necessary because in the last two years we have not had electric power supply in Adabebe and the old transformer has gone bad and we already have a new one that we are trying to mount and is will cost about N4.5 million and nobody is responding to us “

Chukwuka pointed out  that despite letters shared to people and politicians none has deemed it fair and just to come to our aide and tomorrow they would start disturbing us to vote for them”

The people warned that they would pull down campaign canopies and chairs meant for campaigns, stressing that  posters and bill boards are not allowed until the new transformer is mounted and full electricity power supply restored in the area.

“We are particular about this issue of power supply and we will not allow anyone that claims to be contesting election to hold any rally here in Adabebe village” he stated.
