Work With Soludo—Obiano Tells Anambra Lawmakers

The outgoing Governor of Anambra State, Governor, Willie Obiano, on Tuesday urged the State House of Assembly to accord the Governor-elect, Prof. Charles Soludo, same legislative support accorded to him, while in office

Obiano made the plea during a valedictory session organised by the State Assembly in his honour as an outgoing governor of the state.

Obiano led-administration will formally be over on Thursday, March 17, when the governor-elect Prof. Charles Soludo will be sworn in as the 6th executive governor of Anambra State.

He appreciated the legislature for the cordial working relationship that existed between the executive and the legislature during his administration.

“I appreciate the House for honouring me and for your kind words. It is always difficult to say goodbye but I will remember you, the sixth and the seventh Assembly, for your support.

“I want to appeal to you, to accord the incoming governor the same legislative support and assistance you accorded me,” he said.

Earlier, the lawmakers took turns during the session to eulogise and commended Obiano for his outstanding achievements.

Dr Nnamdi Okafor representing Awka South l Constituency (APGA) and the Majority Leader of the House, described Obiano as a God sent to the state and that he would be remembered for his investment in infrastructural development.

In his views, Mr Ejike Okechukwu representing Anaocha ll Constituency (APGA), commended the Governor for his development strides in all the sectors, especially the development of technical education.

Also speaking, Mr Lawrence Ezeudu representing Dunukofia Constituency (APC), said Obiano should be commended for ensuring that Anambra State, becomes an oil producing state.

The Speaker, Mr Uche Okafor, described Obiano, as a visionary leader who bequeathed laudable legacy projects to the state.

“It was a commendable partnership between the legislative and the executive arms of government that we did not record any rift or conflict.

“You will be remembered for your achievements and legacy projects such as the passenger and cargo airport, the international convention centre, the township stadium and other projects.

” As you bow out on Thursday, on behalf of the 7th Assembly, we congratulate you for finishing strong,” he said.
