The Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Anambra State chapter, Comrade Okechukwu Asolo says Chiefs Chris Uba, Linus Ukachukwu and others were suspended from the party by the disciplinary committee of the party because of anti-party activities and indiscipline.
The PDP chairman made the explanation while fielding questions from newsmen at the Udoka Housing Estate Awka Secretariat of the party.
Asolo stressed that PDP is a big political party that had functional constitution which according to him is supreme and as well has disciplinary measures for erring members.
He said that Uba and Ukachukwu were suspended from the party by the disciplinary committee of the party because they went against the constitution of the party.
“Their current crime is that they went against the party as stakeholders who participated actively at the ward congress ratified by the committee set up by the National Working Committee headed by His Excellency, Gov Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
“The committees in its wisdom ratified the local government area congress of 9 council areas and ordered a repeat of 12 LGAs.
“These individuals went to court to challenge the decision of the National Working Committee and brought in persons who are not even members of PDP to institute a case against the party, that is why they were suspended by the disciplinary committee.” Asolo said.
Asolo assured the party members of the commitment of the party leadership to conduct free, fair and most credible primary which everyone would be proud of.
He, however, appealed for unity among the party members noting that the interest of PDP should be paramount and above any other individualistic interests.
Meanwhile, some of the aspirants who obtained expression of interest and nomination forms from the party have started submitting their filled forms at the party Secretariat and in the process made the Udoka Housing Estate Awka PDP office to be a beehive of activities.
