The ongoing NationaI Convention of the All Progressive Congress, at the Eagles Square, Abuja, has recorded a massive stampede that affected more than 30 people, including a pregnant member of the party.
This massive crowd forced the security operatives to enforce normalcy among the delegates with police dogs.
According to an eyewitness, police and Civil Defence Corps chase the delegates and the crowd with police dogs.
The Network gathered that the delegates had stormed the venue waiting for clearance since 6:30am.
Delegates and other party men and women lost their patience and started pushing each other as they complain about the slow pace of the clearance.
It was gathered that the police had to use tear gas to scare delegates away as the crowd became uncontrollable and in the process, the stampede ensued.
The policemen were visibly seen hitting people with batons as they try to take the control of the crowd.
Some were said have sustained injurie at the entrance to the venue where the massive crowd was waiting to be screened for clearance by the security agents.
It was learned that the clearance was taking time and was in snail speed when the stampede occured and the security agencies at the gate were helpless.
Some APC stalwarts and leaders were seen coming to the venue by 12 noon.
The lateness was not unconnected to various meetings to finalise arrangement for the consensus candidate.
