Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, has sworn in 21 new transition Committee chairmen to oversee the affairs of the local government areas of the state.

He tasked them to work hard, stressing that they have no excuse to fail the people at the grassroots.

He said they should more circumspect and idealistic towards producing positive results in view of the humongous challenges before them at the various council areas.

Recall that the 21 transition Committee chairman were appointed on the 29th of July 2022 and confirmed on Friday by members of the State House of Assembly.

Soludo spoke at the swearing ceremony held at the executive Chambers of the Government House Awka on Tuesday.

He reminded them that as privileged group who were carefully selected because of their ability, they have no excuse to fail the people at the grassroots who look up to them for improved welfare and development of the local government areas in line with their path of office and allegiance.

The governor charged them use all opportunities available to them through revenue drive, waste disposal and management, maintenance of law and order to protect lives and properties of the citizens.

“I would like to congratulate the chairmen and at the same time commiserate with them because once you get there at the local government areas there would be a time it would look tiresome.

“I want to congratulate you because you are called to serve the people of the state. It is all work and service to the people. I can see smiles on your faces and that of your spouses, I know that the smiles may soon fade away because this is a unique one that requires thinking outside the box.

“A call to public service is a platform to make the difference. Being called to serve at this time is an honour. If you look at your local government councils you will see hundreds and thousands of people who will be looking up to you for service delivery. You are chosen to change their lives for better.
