Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, was on Monday handcuffed by the Lagos State Police Command who took him into custody for assault on a police officer.
Kuti, accompanied by his lawyer and a family representative went to the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, on Monday and surrendered himself.
Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement confirmed the development.
Hundeyin stated that Kuti had been detained in accordance with the law assuring that an ongoing investigation into the incident would be carried out transparently and professionally.
Hundeyin assured the general public that justice would be served.
Recall that the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, on Sunday, ordered the Lagos State Police Command to quickly the arrest the suspect, after a video went viral showing Kuti assaulting a police officer in uniform.
