SCAMMERS HACK CROSS RIVER GOV’S PHONE

Some suspected fraudsters have hacked the phone number of the Governor of Cross River, Mr Bassey Otu.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Emnanuel Ogbeche, said in a statement on Sunday that the hackers have been using the number to solicit for funds from unsuspecting members of the public.

The Governor’s spokesman advised the public to discountenance messages from the phone.

“The public is pleased advised to disregard any such messages purportedly from the Governor.

“One of the Governor’s mobile numbers was breached by hi-tech criminals in the early hours of Sunday, February 11, 2024.

“The hackers have gone on to utilise the breached number to advance their nefarious activities to try to scam unsuspecting individuals. Please, do not fall to such devious attempt.” He said

He said that the line has been secured while security operatives are after those behind the nefarious act.
