RMAFC, NASRDA Urge Collaboration In Implementing Revenue Digitalisation Initiative

News Investigators/ Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), and National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), have called for collaboration in implementing the Presidential Initiative on Revenue Optimisation and Digitisation.

Mohammed Shehu, Chairman, RMAFC, made the call at the inauguration of the initiative, organised by the commission, on Thursday in Abuja.

Mr Shehu said that strong collaboration and commitment by relevant stakeholders would bring effective implementation of the initiative through Space Technology.

The chairman said President Bola Tinubu had emphasised the importance of economic recovery through enhanced revenue generation.

He noted that such economic recovery could only be achieved through the discovery of new revenue streams.

According to Mr Shehu, the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration could only be realised through the implementation of efficient and effective revenue generation methods.

He stressed that other nations had derived immense benefits by using the revenue generation methods that had boosted their revenue and economy.

“Nigeria as a developing economy, should leverage on this noble idea.

“No doubt, we stand as the threshold of a new era, where innovation, creativity, and collaboration can drive economic growth and progress.

“Therefore, as key stakeholders, we must think innovatively and collaboratively to unlock new opportunities for economic growth and development.

The chairman thanked the NASRDA for pushing the idea of using space technology to unlock the revenue potential of Nigeria .

Ealier, Mathew Adepoju, the Director-General, NASRDA, said that strong collaboration with relevant stakeholders would generate up to 50 billion dollars annually and achieve the current administration’s set goals.

Mr Adepoju said that the RMAFC and NASRDA had engaged Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs), as well as other stakeholders, to contribute ideas that would support effective implementation of the initiative.

“Our initial analysis has given us results that we can help the country generate up to 50 billion dollars annually.

“This is what we are determined to achieve together with the RMAFC, which has keyed into this initiative.

“Of course, we cannot do it alone. That is why it is very imperative for us to have this stakeholders’ engagement with all the revenue generating agencies.

We hope that working together, we will achieve better results for the country,” Adepoju said.

According to him, mainstreaming space science and technology into revenue generating activities will not only help in boosting economic growth but will support the fight against insecurity in the country.
