President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the month of Ramadan offers an opportunity for people feel the hunger experienced by the poor in the society.
He also said that the holy month of fasting and intense devotion to God gives insight into what it feels to be deprived even abs he joined world leaders in welcoming the month.
According to Mr. Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media & Publicity) he emphasized that Muslims “should seek greater personal discipline, which is necessary for the realization of a great nation.”
Buhari advised Muslim elites against food waste and extravagant spending while others face hunger and destitution, urging that they should care for their neighbours, the poor and the marginalized.
He also called for prayers for peace in the country and beyond, and for healing and harmony throughout the world.
He wished all Muslims a successful completion of the 30-day fasting period.
