One Feared Dead, as PMC, Federal Boys Clash in Ibadan

One person has been reportedly killed in a gun duel between members of Oyo State Park Management System and a group, identified as Federal Boys at Oremeji Agugu in Ona-Ara local government area of Oyo state.

Our correspondent gathered that dangerous weapons including guns and cudgels were freely used during the brawl that lasted for several hours.

Residents and traders around the area scampered for safety while commercial activity was temporarily put on hold.

However, the details of the duel between the two groups çould not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.

Men of the Nigeri Police Force, Agugu Police Division, and Southwest Security Network, codenamed Amotekun have taken over the area to restore law and order.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Park Management System in the state, Alhaji Emiola Jelili, confirmed the incident.

He said the Federal Boy are not drivers but area boys who extort money from motorists at Oremeji area.

‘There was no fight among us. What happened is that there are area boys called Federal Boys, they are not drivers but they extort drivers.

“We have reported them to the police at Agugu police station but nothing was done about it.

“But yesterday, while the robbery at Iwo Road was going on, there was gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and these Federal Boys used that also to be robbing people in the traffic.

“Some of those who escaped ran to our park in the area but these boys still pursued them. We had to drive them back. They came back and attacked our offices after we had closed but security agents have taken over the place now.”

The commandant of the Southwest Security Network, codenamed Amotekun in Oyo state, col. Olayinka Olayanju who confirmed the incident said one person has been killed among the federal boys.

“Yes, we have been on it since yesterday. we restored normalcy this morning but they have started the fracas again. One person was killed among the Federal Boys and the corpse is still on the floor at Oremeji. but everything is under control,” he said.

When contacted the State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso said he was yet to get details of the accident.
