A 200-level student of Linguistics and African Language Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife has died after falling into a soakaway.
Spokesman of the University, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, said Ayomikun fell into a soakaway in a private hostel called BVER.
He said that the student was certified dead on arrival st the OAU Teaching Hidpitsl, Ike-Ife.
“When the news got to us, we immediately mobilised the firemen from the University, Osun state and the OAU teaching hospital who through concerted efforts got the student out,” OAU’s statement read.
“She was immediately taken to the OAU Teaching Hospitals Complex where she was certified dead.” He said
Vice a chancellor of the institution, Prof. Eyo tops Ogunbodede, who sympathised with the students and parents of the late students called for calm so that the police can properly investigate the unfortunate incident,
He promised to ensure that the matter is investigated and all necessary measures taken to address the outcome of the investigation.
