NSCDC Threatens to Shut Down Errant Filling Stations, as Scarcity Persists in Oyo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has warned members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, (IPMAN), Oyo state against selling above official pump price of N162 per litre.

NSCDC threatened that it would not hesitate to seal any station caught in the dastardly act.

Our correspondent discovered that some marketers are selling between N200 and N250 per litre especially at nights.

This development has resulted in hundred percent increase in intra and Inter state transport fares.

Disturbed by this development, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Adarelewa Michael Akintayo has reiterated the readiness of the corps to sanction erring filling stations.

He disclosed that some marketers are taking undue advantage of the present fuel scarcity in the Country to jerk up the pump price.

Akintayo hinted that NSCDC would deploy members of its this Anti Vandalism Squad to monitor the fuel situation in the State.

He said this was in line with directive of Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi , the Commandant Generals’ to all State Commandants to deploy personnel mostly Anti-Vandalism Squad to filling stations to maintain orderliness, monitor compliance with government approved rates as well as stop visible and perceived sharp practices observed during supervision and monitoring of filling Stations .

He hinted that Anti Vandalism Squad would visit filling stations in Oyo state, to monitor the compliance of sale of the commodity at the approved price.

Akintayo, therefore, cautioned marketers against hiking the price and ensured that the product is sold to motorists instead of hoarding it.

He charged members of the public to furnish the command with credible information on the activities of errant marketers and other crimes in Oyo state.
