THE Edo State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested 11 illegal migrants from Niger Republic and 10 suspected kidnappers.
The State Commandant, Mr Aniekan Udoeyop, said while speaking with journalists in Benin on Monday that the suspects were arrested along the Ekpoma-Auchi road, following a distress call from the area.
Udoeyop said that the operatives of the NSCDC were promptly deployed to the area to arrest the suspects.
He said that the arrested illegal aliens would be deported to their country at the conclusion of investigation.
He said “We will liaise with relevant security agencies and see how they can be returned back to their country.
“We also arrested three of the main culprits who brought them in under the guise of giving them lucrative jobs.
“I will therefore advice parents to be cautious of whom they give their children out to.
“Some of these lucrative jobs these human traffickers promise are actually not there, and it’s just their ploy to modernize slavery”,
He stressed that the three suspected human traffickers would be prosecuted in consonance with the law.
The NSCDC State Commandant said that the kidnappers were arrested with
charms, machetes and other dangerous weapons.
He added that the suspects attempted unsuccessfully to use their charms on the personnel of the corps, at the time of the arrest,
