NDDC BOARD TO BE CONSTITUTED SOON – BUHARI

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday gave the indication that he would soon constitute the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

Buhari said that the report of the Forensic Audit of the NDDC and the  implementation of the recommendations have commenced in phases.

Buhari stated further that the process of implementing the recommendations would bring in a new management and board for the constitution.

The President spoke while declaring open a retreat for management of Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, at the State House Conference Center, Presidential Villa Abuja.

He was represented by the Minister of Transportation, Muazu Sambo, at the event.

Buhari recalled that his administration undertook some critical reforms and authorized a forensic audit of the NDDC in response to a request from the Governors of the South South 2019, which was in line with of his administration’s policy to curb corruption.

Buhari also called on the people of the oil rich region to ensure the creation of a conducive atmosphere for the implementation of the developmental projects initiated by the government in the area.

The President said that the ongoing 

East-West Road Project, in the Niger Delta would be completed before the end of his administration in 2023.

He described the major regional road as  one of the largest infrastructure in Nigeria, designed to  connect the Country’s busiest and foremost Commercial Cities, in the Region. 

Buhari also directed the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited to fix Section 4 of the East West Road (Eleme Roundabout to Onne junction) through the Tax credit Scheme.

The President also said that violators of procurement laws would face heavy sanctions in consonance with the stipulations of the Public Procurement Act.

He reiterated the determination of his administration to fight the scourge of corruption saying culprits procure law violations would not be spared.
