The Ekiti State Government on Tuesday took delivery of 23 traffic boots donated by Mikano International limited in support of government’s effort at ensuring safety and comfort of traffic officers in the State.
Speaking at the Government House Ground in Ado Ekiti where the donation took place, Governor Kayode Fayemi commended Mikano International Limited for extending the hand of support and partnership to the State Government.
According to him, the facilities would complement the State Government’s urban renewal plan geared towards improving the quality of life of the people.
The donation was made in the presence of the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Tunde Mobayo represented by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Patric Daaor; the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Ocheja Ameh; officers of the Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency (EKSTMA); Special Adviser on Development Partnership, Mrs Margret Fagboyo; and other top government functionaries.
Dr Fayemi, represented by his Chief of Staff, Biodun Omoleye, assured the donor that the State Government would distribute the traffic boots across the State to serve the intended purpose.
He said the facilities would in no small measure support the conveniences and safety of traffic officers by serving as a shelter for them in the course of discharging their responsibilities.
“This is actually coming at a time the state is desirous of this kind partnership which in fact is complementary to our current urban renewal initiatives. I assure you that the State Government would continue to partner with your company for the betterment of Ekiti people and the country at large.
“Also I assure you that the State Government is committed to making life better for the people of Ekiti State, our urban initiative is so encompassing that is design to make life easy for commuters across the State. We have been constructing and maintain our roads.
“We have programmess to sufficiently equip all our roads with modern facilities, part of which include modern bus stop, good and motor-able roads and of course walk ways for the physically challenged people, most of our roads are fitted with electronic gadgets that are build to capture instance at the highways to ensure safety and security of people of Ekiti State.
“What we are witnessing today is yet another initiative to complement our efforts at making lives easy for the people of Ekiti State and to this we appreciate the leadership and management of Mikano international limited.” He said.
In his remarks, the representative of Mikano international limited, Mr Yemi Salako said the gesture was part of the company’s social responsibility efforts to support Government efforts at improving the lives of the people in the State.
He added that it was also a demonstration of the readiness of his company to work hand in hand with the State Government to move Ekiti State forward on areas that affect the lives of the people.
