•••FG NOT OVERWHELMED BY INSECURITY
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Wednesday blamed the media for incessant terrorists attacks on Nigerians saying the media provides the platform for them to operate.
Mohammed said he is blaming the media for providing the platform for terrorists by publishing their activities on the front page of every newspaper.
Lai Mohammed made the declaration while responding to a question on insecurity after the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammedu Buhari, at the Council Chambers in the State House in Abuja.
He stated that the Federal Government is not overwhelmed by the insecurity issues across the country, contrary to public perception that the FG has been overwhelmed by terrorists.
He said that not every success of the military in its war against terrorism, is being reported by the media stressing that terrorists have suffered many casualties.
Confirming the attack on a military base in Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State, he insisted that the attack was repelled adding that the terrorists suffered heavy casualties.
On Tuesday, 11 soldiers were killed and several others injured in the attack.
On the worsening economic situation in the country, the Minister also accused the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for laying the foundation for hunger currently being experienced by Nigerians.
According to him, despite the various challenges facing the country, the Minister said the administration is doing everything within its power to address the situation.
