KANO APC CRISIS: RECONCILIATION MEETING ENDS IN A DEADLOCK IN ABUJA

A reconciliation meeting of the two factions of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State with the national leadership of the party ended in a deadlock on Friday night.

Present at the meeting were Governor Abdulahi Umar Ganduje, leader of one faction and Senator Ibrahim Shekarau leading the other.

Also at the meeting we’re Gov. Bello Matawwalle of Zamfara, Senator Kabiru Gaya and others.

The national leadership led by Governor Mai Mala Buni, Chairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, received briefings from both factions in the meeting that lasted more than six hours.

A source at the meeting said that the National leaders could not strike a truce as both camps refused to shift ground.

It was said that after hours of deliberations, the APC leaders decided to study the proposals with a view to communicating the party’s decision to both parties on a later date.

The source said, “A meeting between the APC national leadership and two factions of the party in Kano state just ended in Abuja.

“The meeting which has Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje leading one section and Senator Ibrahim Shekarau leading the other faction received briefings and proposals from the two factions.

“Based on the submissions from the two parties, the national leadership of the APC promised to study all the proposals tabled at the meeting and take a definite stand that will be communicated to the two parties at a meeting to be convene soon.

“The meeting lasted for about six hours.”
