Kaduna Emerges Best Performing State In PHC In North West

News Investigators/ Kaduna State has emerged as the best performing state in Primary Health Care (PHC) in the North West, highlighting Gov. Uba Sani’s unwavering commitment to transforming the health sector.

This is contained in a statement by Mr Ibrahim Musa, Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Uba Sani, on Saturday in Kaduna.

He said the Deputy Governor, Hadiza Balarabe, received the international recognition and a 500,000 dollars cash prize on behalf of the government.

She emphasised that the award was a testament to the Governor’s exceptional investments in healthcare and leadership.

“For Kaduna State, the award represents more than just financial recognition. It is a reflection of the dedication of our health team and their tireless efforts to improve healthcare services for residents,” she added.

“The 500,000 dollars cash prize will support ongoing healthcare initiatives and continue to enhance primary healthcare delivery in the state,’’ Dr Balarabe explained.

She was accompanied by the Commissioner for Health and the Executive Secretary of the Primary Health Care Board to the gala night hosted by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum at the Banquet Hall in Aso Villa, Abuja, where the award was presented.

The PHC Leadership Challenge, which presented the award, recognises Kaduna State’s substantial investments and strategic approach to improving public health infrastructure and service delivery.

The initiative, launched in 2019 following the Seattle Declaration, aims to strengthen governors’ commitment to primary healthcare.

This programme is a collaborative effort involving the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, UNICEF, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency.
