The recently inaugurated Benue State Community Volunteer Guards, BSCVG on Thursday, arrested five suspected Ambazonia fighters in Jato Aka, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.
The Ambazonian fighters are said to be linked to Boko Haram Terrorists wreaking havoc in the northern part of the country .
The suspects range in age from 25 to 42 years old.
Lt. Col. Paul Hemba (Rtd), Special Adviser to the Governor on Security who disclosed this to newsmen in Makurdi, identified the suspects as Stanley Vincent, David Ajong, Ronado Njeke, Nelson Emmanuel Ngum, and Tabel Samuel Obem.
Colonel Hemba stated that the five fighters, who are also believed to have been fighting the Republic of Cameroon for many years, were apprehended at the Jato Aka Roundabout, near the Dzoho Aondofa drinking establishment.
He revealed that items suspected to be chemical weapons, military uniforms, charms, and an unspecified amount of ammunition were recovered from the suspects at their hideout at the Agogo Hotel in Jato Aka, where they had been staying for about six months.
According to the Security Adviser, one of the suspects, Stanley Vincent, disguised himself as a Nigerian Army personnel serving in Ojo, Lagos State, without any form of identity, which raised suspicions against them.
He further said, the suspects have been handed over to the Police Division in Adikpo after being linked to criminal activities in Kwande Local Government such as armed robbery and kidnapping in the last six months.
