Strong indications have emerged that the All Progressive Congress, Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), actually passed a vote of no confidence on the National Secretary, Senator John Akpanudoedehe on March 8, 2022.
Investigation revealed that two-third majority of the members of the CECPC passed a vote of no confidence on the National Secretary on March 8, 2022.
A document released to The Network shows that the “Vote of no Confidence” was passed in Akpanudoedehe by 10 out of the 12 memberse of the committee, who signed the notice.
The meeting which sacked the Secretary held under the title
“Motion of No Confidence in the Secretary of the Caretaker And Extra Ordinary Convention Planing Committee.”
The motion reads, “We the members of the CECPC of the All Progressives Congress as duly constituted on 25th of June, 2020, by the National Executive of our great Party , and sitting in our regular meeting on the 8th Day of March 2022 hereby unanimously resolved and adopt a motion of NO CONFIDENCE on the Secretary of the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressive Congress, and direct that from toddy henceforth he steps aside as the Secretary of the Committee and stop forthwith all activities and duties associated with the office.
The undersigned are a full quorum of the Committee of the 2/3rd required.”
Those signed the motion are; Senator Ken Nnamani, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, Senator Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf, Prof Tahir Mammah (SAN)!, Senator Abba Alli, H.E David Lyon, Hon Akinremi Olàide, Mrs Stella Okotete, Barr Ismaeel Ahmad and Dr James Lalu.
The committee relied on the Article 17 subsection 5 of the constitution of the All Progressives Congress, which allows “a majority of any constituted ad-hoc committee of the party to pass a vote of no confidence on any member found wanting”, to sack Senator Udoedehe.
“Subject to ratification by the National Convention or Congress an Officer shall be relieved of his post at anytime if a “Vote of No Confidence” is passed on him by two-thirds of members of the relevant party organ.
“Pursuant of this Constitution where a “Vote of No Confidence” has been passed on an officer, the relevant party organ shall appoint another person to act in his place pending ratification by the National Convention or Congress”, the portion reads.
It would be recalled that as a fall out of the sudden removal of the (now restored) Chairman of the CECPC, Gov Mai Mala Buni, and his replacement with Gov Abubakar Bello on March 7, Akpanudoedehe, packed out of his office on March 8, 2022, the day majority of the members moved against him.
He quickly held a press briefing to dismiss speculations in the media that he had resigned as National Secretary.
While the doubts about Akpanudoedehe’s position gathered momentum, the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El Rufai, a staunch follower of President Buhari reputed for being firm in his positions, said that that Buni and Akpanudoedehe were removed by via a Presidential directive.
He said that Buni and his men got a secret court order to sabotage the National Convention of the party.
However, following INEC’s refusal to acknowledge Governor Abubakar Bello
and Mamman Tahir as Chairman and Secretary, respectively in a letter of March 9, 2022, the leaders of the APC have returned to Buni and Akpanudoedehe as National Chairman and Secretary of the APC CECPC.
