Guinness World Records has said that it would verify the feat achieved by Nigerian Chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey (Hilda Baci), who achieved a 100-hour non-stop cooking feat to set aside the 87 hr 45 min world record set Lata Tondon of India.

The world record body said in a statement posted on its website on Tuesday that its personnel on the record team would soon verify the efforts of the Hilda Baci.

“She’s hoping to snap up the record title for the longest cooking marathon (individual) which currently belongs to Lata Tondon (India) with a time of 87 hr 45 min.

“Hilda began cooking on Thursday and continued through to Monday, reportedly whipping up 55 recipes and more than 100 meals in a whopping 100-hour stint.

“Officials on our records team look forward to reviewing the evidence and hope to be able to verify Hilda’s efforts as a new record very soon.” The statement read.

Hilda Baci  concluded her marathon cooking exercise with 100-hour record time.

The 27 year old Akwa Ibom indigene was able to beat her set target of 96 hour non stop cooking.

Nigerians converged at the Amore Gardens, Lekki, venue of the exercise to encourage her and share videos of her exploits.

She had set the new historic record as she cooked for 88 hours and 32 minutes (which she later extended to 100 hours) to beat the previous record set by an Indian Chef, Lata Tondon in 2019.

Baci started her four-day cooking marathon challenge on May 11 at the Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos.
