FAKE NEW ONE THOUSAND NOTE HITS THE STREETS

There is a troubling revelation by a bank agent that fraudsters have released a fake copy of the newly redesigned and reissued N1000 note.

The shocking information is coming barely four days after the Central bank of Nigeria directed commercial banks to start dispensing the redesigned 200,500 and 1000 Naira notes to customers on December 15.

The bank agent claimed in a viral video that a customer used a fake copy of the new N1000 note to transact business in his wife Point of Sale (PoS) Centre.

To prove his point, the man displayed the two versions of the new N1000 notes in circulation – the fake and the genuine.

The man explained that the fake 1000 note which was used in the PoS transaction does not have the gold seal on the original note.

Watch video below:

He said that the seal at the right side of the bottom of the original currency cannot be erased when scratched.

He said, “Ladies and gentlemen, fake  money is in town town. People should be very careful. My wife is running a PoS. Somebody gave it to her but we don’t know who gave it to her…”

There is an obvious shortage of the Naira across the country with commercial banks not having it for purposes of circulation.

A good percentage of Nigerians have only sighted the money when it was unveiled at the Presidential Villa on television.

There are complaints among commercial banks that the small quantity allocated to them were insufficient and had been exhausted.

The Network investigation revealed that even the workers of CBN who are presumed to be close to the new note have not got the new money.

It was learnt that the authorities referred the workers of the apex bank to their commercial banks to get the money.
